About My Art:
In my paintings and drawings I use line and color as the principal elements of my visual language. From them I can explore all the dimensions of mark making, along with any added meanings of my work.
For instance, in a 2009 show , I explored the necessity of creating in times of worldly madness , the paintings were aggressive and dense in their patterns of markings and lines. Also recently, I showed a group of work about my process of creation , which focused on creating Order from Chaos, on the gathering and grouping of lines into forms.
Line is the language, and Color is the spiritual and emotional content that amplifies that language. Areas are often "toned" and shaped with colored line: It is the colored energy of space.
The primal need to express my existence is met with my desire to discover an individual language used for that purpose.
This spring I have begun working with what is called the "plane horizon"- the very fine line of surface on the canvas where vision is separated; painting becomes image inward, and object outward. For this purpose I have started using industrial tools : trowels and spray paint, adding texture and an urban sensibility to the artwork.
